It is widely believed that paper consumption results in the destruction of forests. However, most European paper manufacturers plant as many trees as they fell - sometimes more. In this respect, the belief that paper-makers and users destroy forests is invalid.

Moreover, the paper industry has a long tradition of encouraging environmental responsibility and developing sustainability. Paper is a resource that is both renewable and recyclable. When sourced from responsibly managed forests, it benefits the environment.

About FSC ^®

The Forest Stewardship Council ^® (FSC) is an international organisation promoting responsible forest management. The Trademark of the FSC is a label on timber and wood based products, including paper, which indicates that the wood comes from a well-managed forest. FSC has developed principles for forest management of forest holdings, and a system of tracing, verifying and labelling timber and wood products, which originate from FSC-certified forests.

It gives assurance that the forest of origin has been independently inspected and evaluated to comply with an internationally agreed set of strict environmental, social and economic standards.
